Unit 8.2 - Responses to the Environment
Endotherms (like humans and birds) generate heat through their metabolism to keep a constant body temperature.
For example:
shivering, changing heart rate, or storing fat.
Ectotherms (like reptiles and amphibians) depend on their environment to regulate body temperature. They don’t have internal ways to keep a constant temperature, so they might warm up in the sun or cool off in the shade.
